Cool Chain 2008 Memories

Memories from Cool Chain 2008

A really huge thank you to all the hundreds of delegates who travelled to Brussels for the 2008 event; your support, participation and continued enthusiasm for the event contributed to yet another memorable conference.

If you were among those who couldn't make it, we are sorry that you couldn't, you missed a really great event. Hopefully you'll get to come along next year and in the mean time you can review the key benefits of the 2008 conference:

Delegates' Favourite Moments

  • The IATA/Air France KLM Discussion Forum: Many people commented on the value of having IATA advice combine with the practical perspective of an airline.
  • Interactive roundtable discussions: hottest topics were "Cool Chain Integrity and Visibility - A discussion and review of industry implementation trends and expectations for return on investment" led by Sensitech's Henry Ames and "Good Cold Chain Management Practice for Clinical Supplies" led by Rafik H. Bishara Ph.D. Technical Advisor, PCCIG Chairperson PDAA and programme advisor to Cool Chain Europe 2009, whose infectious enthusiasm was praised by many of the delegates.
  • "Creating A Strategy For Ambient Temperature Products", presented by Dave Ulrich, GPO QA Distribution Manager at Abbott was the best rated solo presentation of the conference, reflecting both the increasing concern with this temperature band and the excellent content of the session. There was a massive response to this presentation with one delegate describing it as a "phenomenal experience" - and they weren't wrong!
  • The last 1 – 1000 miles discussions: The unknown, little talked about, very end of the cold chain remains a serious weak link in the distribution chain. From the discussions at this year’s conference, industry practitioners, non-profit and regulatory organisations are forming a ‘Last Miles Task Force’ to define plausible best practices to securing this vital part of the cold chain. If you would like more information or to join the 'Last Miles Task Force', please express your interest here.
