Arie Y. Lewin

Arie Y. Lewin is Professor of Strategy and Sociology at Duke University and Visiting Research Professor at IESE (2005- ) and RSM Erasmus University (1998- ) where he is also ERIM Senior Fellow. He is Director of the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) and Editor-in-Chief (March 2002- ) of Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS); and founding Editor-in-Chief of Organization Science (1989-1998). He is the Lead Principal Investigator for the multi year international Offshoring Research Network (ORN) project which is tracking firm strategies, their experiences and future plans as they involve the offshoring of administrative and technical work to low cost countries. Current research focuses on the globalization of innovation. In addition to the US the ORN project covers companies in Australia, Belgium/France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Scandinavia, Spain and UK.
Professor Lewin’s Research interests center on strategic renewal of organizations, business dynamics, emergence of new organizational forms and adaptive capabilities that distinguish between innovating and imitating organizations. Current research focuses on offshoring and the globalization of innovation
Debra Cox

Debra Cox has been the Managing Director of Shared Services for Tesoro Companies, Inc., an oil & gas marketing & refining company based in San Antonio, TX since 2007. She joined Tesoro in October of 2003 as a Shared Services Manager, and then was promoted to Sr. Manager over Financial Processing Services, to include Accounts Payable, Billing and Payroll.
Tesoro’s Shared Services 130+ member team reports to the Vice President/Controller and currently includes Accounts Payable, Billing, Cash Applications, Business Reporting, Commercial Contract Management, Business Service Center, HR Service Center/Timekeeping, Master Data Unit, Pricing Data Management, Payroll, Performance Analysis/Improvement, Property and Environmental Accounting Departments.
Prior to Tesoro, Debra was a Client Services Manager with Deloitte Consulting in the San Antonio outsourcing office. Debra was also employed with Apple Computer, Inc. for ten years in Austin, TX as a Shared Services Finance Manager over various functional divisions.
Debra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education with a major in Business Administration from Texas State University and a Master’s degree in Educational Technology/Management from University of Texas – Brownsville.
David Taliancich

David currently serves as Vice President of Strategic Shared Services. He is responsible for developing and leading the shared services operation for Safeco which includes Offshore Operations, Corporate Real Estate, Publishing & Distribution, Fraud Management, Loss Recovery Management and the Quality program.
Prior to joining Safeco, David spent five years at USAA, where he managed several technology and process programs that focused on improvements in auto insurance, property insurance, claims operations and reporting & business intelligence. In his last role, he worked as Executive Director for Online Experience, leading efforts to ensure USAA members could quote, buy, service and manage claims online with a best-in-class experience. His background also includes positions at AIG and Electronic Data Systems. David has undergraduate degrees in economics & philosophy from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and a master’s in human resources and organizational development from the University of Texas.
Ed Martinez

Ed Martinez was Vice President in the AT&T Finance organization, and Executive Director and President of the award winning BellSouth Affiliate Services Corporation (BASC), the BellSouth Shared Services entity. Ed’s role in AT&T Finance included helping lead the merger transition activities associated with integrating BellSouth’s finance functions and systems into the new AT&T. Ed's role in the BellSouth Shared Services Center included providing strategic direction, operational oversight and project management for processes and systems which included General Ledger & Financial Reporting, Fixed Assets, Project Costing and Affiliate Billing, Payroll and Employee Data Services, Accounts Payables, Cash Disbursements, Customer Payment Processing, and Program Management functions. Ed was the primary driver in creating and selling the vision of the enterprise-wide Shared Services Center, and he served as the project leader responsible for designing and implementing that vision for the Finance Services.
Ed’s past experiences included serving as the Executive Director-Corporate Accounting and Systems at BellSouth headquarters, as well as numerous leadership roles in the areas of financial planning and analysis, activity based costing, external financial and regulatory reporting, compliance and internal controls, contract administration and performance measurements.
Ed is heavily involved in external global Shared Services industry benchmarking and networking associations, and has been a featured speaker in over 20 external conferences, and has published articles in the areas of benchmarking, performance management and best practices. The BellSouth Shared Services Center was recognized as one of the “top ranked” Service Centers, based on external benchmark results. It was voted the “Best Mature Shared Services Center-2005” by the International Quality Productivity Center (IQPC) Shared Services and Outsourcing Network and recognized as a “Top Leading Edge SSC” in 2006 by the Corporate Executive Board Shared Services Round Table.
Kris Rosiak

Kris Rosiak is a Global Director of IT Infrastructure Finance at UBS, focused on leading the implementation and change management of the UBS Group IT Cost Transparency philosophy, processes, and tools. UBS IT Infrastructure was formed approximately 5 years ago as a Shared Services Organization, with the vision of delivering reliable, cost effective IT Infrastructure products and services globally for the benefit of the varied business groups and UBS' shareholders. Group IT Cost Transparency (GCT) is the mechanism that delivers a consistent operational and cost IT management methodology across UBS. Kris has worked on both the formation of IT Infrastructure and GCT from inception through post-implementation. Over his 15+ year career, he has led effective financial management processes, systems and organizations in the Information Technology, Telecommunications, Financial Services, Banking, and Manufacturing industries; which included a mix of shared services organizations and more traditional, functional departments. Kris has gained expertise in Financial Performance Management & Measurement of information technology through management of strategic & tactical planning; investment appraisal / business cases; Total Cost of Ownership benchmarking; activity based costing; service catalog & governance implementation; and financial & operational control. Prior to joining UBS ITI Infrastructure, Kris has worked for UBS Investment Bank (IT), ABN Amro Services Company, T-Mobile (Aerial Communications), Topco Associates, and US Bank.
Debbie Vander-Bogart

After nearly 20 years at Gap Inc, Debbie joined Levi Strauss & Co. in January 2008 where she leads, manages and directs the Levi Strauss Americas Financial Shared Service Center in Eugene, Oregon.
The mission of the center is to increase stakeholder value and deliver corporate objectives by providing cost-effective, accurate and timely processing; relevant analysis and innovative solutions; and collaborative consulting to business partners throughout the Americas.
In her role she functions as the Head of Operations for all financial processes which are handled by the Shared Services Center. Some of these processes include Disbursements (Payroll and Accounts Payable), Credit & Accounts Receivable, Retail Accounting, General Accounting, Inter-Company Accounting Benefits Accounting and Office Management Services. Also indirectly managed areas include Customer Order Management and Procurement Support.
Debbie is driving the evolution of the Shared Services concept in alignment with the overall strategic objectives of Levi Strauss & Company with a strong focus on service delivery and value creation related to financial processes while also engaging with enterprise business leaders in our business units and corporate functions.
Michael Jones

Michael Jones joined Yahoo in August of 2004 as a Senior Director over the Accounting Services team. He steered Yahoo through a successful SOX implementation in their initial year and was instrumental in establishing a consolidated Shared Services Center in Dublin throughout 2004 and 2005. In 2006 Michael led a team to re-engineer the Yahoo close cycle and reduced it from 20+ days to 5. Yahoo is currently in the process of implementing AssureNET and ReconNET to further solidify their control environment and enhance productivity. Prior to joining Yahoo, Michael was Assistant US Controller at Nortel Networks where he was heavily involved in acquisition integration and controls enhancement following Nortel’s financial restatement.
Michael is a CPA with an MBA from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a BS in Accounting from Tulane University.
Russ Finney

Russ Finney has spent fourteen years as the Vice President & CIO of the US operations of Tokyo Electron, one of the world's largest semiconductor production equipment manufacturers. Russ currently serves on the high tech advisory board of the Austin Chamber of Commerce’s AusTech Alliance. He has also served on the board of the Austin Technology Council. In the past, he served on the National Board of Directors of AITP, and he has been president of both the Houston and Austin AITP Chapters. In 2006, he was named “Austin IT Executive of the Year” by his peers at the annual central Texas Innotech technology conference. Before Tokyo Electron, Russ was an IT Consultant with Ernst & Young.
Russ is often quoted in publications such as Computerworld and CIO Magazine. He is also a frequent industry speaker all over the world and he often gives guest lectures in a university setting. Many of Tokyo Electron’s projects have been noted in industry white papers, and one e-commerce project was the basis of a Harvard Business School case study. Russ is a graduate of Oklahoma State University.
Sam Poston

Sam Poston, a partner and senior vice president with ScottMadden, leads the firm’s shared services practice. He has been a management consultant for more than 20 years, working both as a consultant and a line manager in the utility industry. He has served more than 50 clients in a variety of industries, including energy utilities, federal government, technology, entertainment, pulp and paper, services, retail, and manufacturing. Mr. Poston specializes in linking internal shared services delivery systems to corporate strategies and goals, and he is internationally recognized as an expert in bringing about organizational transformation. Mr. Poston earned a B.S. degree in psychology/social work from Ball State University and an M.S.W. from the University of Michigan. He is a graduate of the advanced program in organizational development and human resource management, a joint program of Columbia University and the University of Michigan. Prior to joining ScottMadden in 1991, Mr. Poston was manager of human resources for GE Plastics.
Dan Smoot

Worldwide Customer Service and Support Operations
Dan Smoot oversees Cisco’s worldwide Customer Service and Support Operations, with his responsibilities extending to the areas of transformational process improvement. This is a critical area as the organization strives to drive productivity and business growth, while continuously improving customer experience. Because of his cross functional background, his industry knowledge and expertise, Dan is an active member of several internal business councils, such as the Business Process Operations Council (BPOC), the Connected Operations Executive Council, the Inclusion and Diversity Council and the Services Operation Council. Additionally, he is the Executive Sponsor of the New Hire Network where he provides thought leadership to the areas of career development for new hires, especially to those new in career. Since joining Cisco in 1999, Dan has held various leadership positions across the company. Previously, he served as Global Director for the U.S. Enterprise sales organization and was responsible for managing the Sales and Engineering teams that supported large global and multi-national enterprise customers; public sector including State of California which generates $600 million in revenue.
Dan’s key accomplishments include the management of one of the largest processes designed to improve productivity for operational support; led efforts in framing Cisco’s sales process methodology; and as an original member of the Global Accounts Program, helped shape the global account strategy to where it stands today.
Dan came to Cisco from Siemens ICN where he was a General Manager overseeing all Sales and Field Operations for the Northwest U.S. and Western Canada Area. His scope included running the overall business operations for engineering, project management and consulting services. With an environmental science degree from the University of California at Irvine, Dan also holds an MBA from Harvard University’s School of Business Management.
Furthermore, Dan was also a member and captain of a National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) National Championship team and a member of the U.S. National Water Polo team.
James Watson

James Watson is a Director with Neocase Software Inc., a global provider of technology solutions for Shared Services Organizations. During his twenty years of experience in the software industry, he’s introduced software solutions to over 200 organizations, improving their productive and quality of service delivery. Watson is a graduate of Saint Michael’s College, where he earned a Bachelors Degree, and a Masters of Science in Administration.
Ritesh Idnani

Ritesh joined Infosys BPO in November 2005 and currently heads sales and marketing globally for the entire company as well as the operations for the banking and capital markets business and Insurance Healthcare and Life-Sciences unit for Infosys BPO. He was previously head of sales for the banking and capital markets vertical at Infosys Technologies.
At Infosys BPO, Ritesh drives the go-to-market strategies. He also oversees the strategic business objectives of the company including new opportunities identification, market-led solutions development and monetization, corporate strategy and customer relationship management. He has approximately a decade of experience in assisting global corporations choose processes to outsource, implement governance models and drive the performance of their outsourcing relationships. Ritesh has been instrumental in scaling the BPO business from USD 43 M in 2005 to USD 250 M in 2008. He also drives strategy, direction, solution design and operations for the banking capital markets, insurance and healthcare businesses within Infosys BPO.
Prior to Infosys, Ritesh was with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he set up the financial services risk management practice for India. He started his career with Citigroup at their corporate and investment banking division.
Ritesh has been invited to speak in various international forums and is an active participant in such forums. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics & Accounting from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai.
